What makes you powerful?

What makes me powerful is the ability to stand in my wholeness and truth as a black queer womyn. The image I was created in rests on the souls of my ancestors who fought for my humanity. As I walk boldly into the person I am becoming, I recognize the power in my voice not only holds the experiences of my past, but it transcends to the present and future therefore I can now walk with my head held high not only telling myself that I am the Prize; but can share this truth with others who were deemed unworthy.

What message would you offer for current, former, and future Black and LGBTQ+ young people impacted by the system?

Never underestimate the power of your voice. Even if you feel like no one is listening; speak a little louder. The beauty of using your voice doesn’t just come in the form of your vocal cords but in the rhythm of the beat as you march forward. As you move through the challenges along the way; try to remember that you can always look up towards the sun and see the light that helps guide your path. Life is a journey so continue to stand in your power because the voice that once silenced you will now be a force of reason as your voice will help shake up the world.
